Flowers and Hummingbirds

Dewey, Paul and I have noticed a hummingbird the last few days loving the flowers in the hanging plant we have by our back door. This morning Buddy and I decided that we would get out our hummingbird feeder and pole, fill it with food and wait for the little bird to show up. We hope the little hummingbird we have seen will find the food and call his friends so we will have lots of little hummingbirds around our house. By the way, we never saw one hummingbird last year after we put out food for them. I think hummingbirds are fascinating and watching them is a real joy. They are an amazing creation.

With that taken care of Buddy and I got to the flowers. I bought a couple carnation plants and some begonias. I planted them in our planters in the front yard and in the back yard. Buddy loved being in the front yard watching me (he was tethered to one of our posts so he wouldn't chase the passing cars, people, dogs and bicycles which he loves to do). Someday I'll have to tell you about the car he caught on a snowy day. We even cleaned up some weeds and made our garden look a little more springlike. Once I got the hose out I was happily surprised to find out that Buddy wasn't afraid of the water. He got pretty wet from his belly down. He doesn't seem to mind getting really dirty even though he was so clean and beautiful yesterday. I guess that's the little boy in him. So until I get a few more flowers, mainly red, white and blue ones that I'll plant around Memorial Day I think I'm through planting. Buddy really doesn't care what we are doing outside as long as he is with us.

Buddy got to go on a long walk at the park today thanks to Paul. Paul and Buddy went to play while I went visiting teaching. I'm glad they did that and so was Buddy or else he would have had to be in his crate while I was gone. He doesn't mind his crate but he would rather be in it only during nighttime sleep time. He sleeps on my side of the bed and it's important to him that he knows I am in bed sleeping, or else he would want to be up with me.

I put a brisket in the crock pot this morning. We had it for supper and it was delicious. There was also carrots, potatoes, celery, onions, mushrooms and garlic. YUM YUM!!!! Dewey bought the best rub that I put on it before cooking. It is very good and tasty.

I can't believe today is the last day of April. Where did the month go? May MAY be filled with flowers and hummingbirds for all of us.

Today in review

Today is Tuesday. On Tuesday Buddy goes to the beauty shop. He shakes all the way there(for some reason he knows it is Tuesday) and is not really a happy little Maltese. He goes to Pets R Precious and the women who work there are wonderful and very kind to Buddy. They say he is always a good little boy and when I pick him up he is absolutely beautiful. He has also stopped shaking and is very happy to see me. I think Buddy would prefer to be called handsome. I don't want him to eat or drink or go to the bathroom until Dewey comes home in the afternoon so he can see how perfect he looks, but that lasts about two minutes. Once we get home he is in the backyard and in the house rolling around all over the place. The other thing about Buddy being groomed on Tuesdays it that it wipes him out pretty much all day. I guess getting beautiful is hard work. Our cat Cotton, who is also called Kitty, is tolerating Buddy. We do have a problem with Kitty eating Buddy's food and Buddy eating Kitty's food. I play musical dog food/cat food dishes all the time. Put down, take up, put down, take up etc.

Tuesday is also Weight Watcher day for me. I lost .4 lbs this week. That's pretty good considering I was a little naughty(actually I was a lot naughty) and didn't stay within my points. This is the beginning of a new week so we'll see how it goes point wise for the coming week. Summertime is nice on WW because of all the wonderful fresh fruit available.

This Saturday the farmers' market begins down in the park. Buddy will go with us. There are always dogs there with their owners and it gives Buddy a time to be sociable. It's fun and there are lots of neat things there. I like the bouquets of flowers that are sold for $5.

Just one last thing today. It's because of Ella that we have Buddy. She is a great dog. Buddy is a great puppy (10 months and aging). Thanks Devin and Carl for introducing us to little dogs!

Beginnings

Welcome! We were so impressed with Devin and Carl's blog page, we decided to start our own. And here it is.
