Buddy and the Yellow School Bus

Buddy has a bad habit. We are trying to break him of it but it is hard. He wants to chase anything with wheels, especially big cars and buses. Big yellow school buses. Today we went for our mile walk and naturally every time a car drove by he tried to chase it. I stand between him and the street and say no but as soon as he hears one coming he stops, lays in wait and then pounces. Fortunately for me and him too I have a tight hold on him. So that's the way our walks go. Walking, waiting, crouching and pouncing. Today when we got home I stopped in the front yard to pull a few weeds while I still had Buddy on his leash. He was being good, I thought. The next thing that happened, happened very fast-- a big yellow school bus was coming down the street and before I realized what was going on Buddy had escaped from his leash and was chasing it. He caught up to it about the time it stopped two doors down to drop off kids. When he realized kids were getting off the bus he hi-tailed it back to good old mom. That was kinda scary--really scary. By the way, remember when I said he was being good while I was holding his lease in one hand and pulling weeds with the other. He was being good alright--good and sneaky--he was chewing his leash in two. If you know where we can buy a heavy metal halter leash, let us know.

Buddy is feeling really good about himself now and also just plain feeling good.

P.S. Today was Primary Activity Day at our house. The girls made rice krispy treats and ate them. We also discussed summer plans. Picnic, museum and blueberry picking.

Buddy The Worm

As you already know Buddy was a very very sick dog last week. I don't want to think of what would have happened if we had waited another day to get him to a doctor. He was on about 6 different medications and he is now back to his normal self, actually better than his normal because now he eats like I think he should have been eating all the time. He eats all the time with great enthusiasm and very fast. It looks as though we are starving him to death each time he has food put before him and that this will be his last meal. We feed him several small meals a day and you would think he would be full but if we turn our backs he immediately starts in on Kitty's food. Now this is a problem because he is on a very specialized diet and is only suppose to get his food. It's been a real problem because we have to watch Kitty eat and we can't forget to put her food up and out of Buddy's reach. Guess what we're old and we forget and then Buddy is very quite and we look for him and he is crunching on cat food. Sometimes we hear him first. Used to be when he saw us coming he would run away from Kitty's food as fast as he could, but now he doesn't care if he gets kicked across the room (which we don't do) he will not stop eating until we grab him or the bowl of food. Dewey says he's like a quarterback practicing to get knocked silly. He just won't move. He thinks he is a worm with the sole purpose in life of eating. That's what worms are all about and that is what Buddy is all about. He knows the words food, hungry and eat. He's going to look like a big fluffy balloon pretty soon. Yesterday we dropped a pickle and a piece of raw hamburger meat on the floor while preparing dinner and Dewey couldn't reach down fast enough and yes there was Buddy and he had already swallowed it. I was worried how he would be today but so far he seems fine. His poop is good and he is eating everything in sight and he is very active. So much for us trying to be perfect on what goes into the Worm's mouth. He got to go to Pets R Precious today and he is clean and beautiful once again except for the pink stain on his mouth from the antibiotics( he still on 2 of them). He was so dirty and so many mattes in his hair but Roxanne got them all out.

I picked up Paul from the airport this morning and didn't get to WW today. My friend and I are going on Thursday. You should hear Paul talk about the place he stayed. He loved it and wants to go back. It was really living off the land. Right up his alley.

We are thankful for the men and women who served and are serving our country to protect our freedom. We had a nice Memorial Day yesterday. Today is the anniversary of Grandpa Tom Owens death. We remember him----he served and loved our country faithfully.

Iron Man Redux

Jo-T and I saw Iron Man yesterday. Liked it. A lot. But, and this will cause Carl much angst, we think we like Indiana Jones better. Robert Downey Jr was perfect for the role of Tony Stark. Jeff Bridges was brilliant (although he kept reminding us of Bill Bavasi, the GM of the Mariners, which increased his villainy for us). The special effects were flawless, and the enjoyment high. Having a lot of C-17's in the beginning didn't hurt--hoo-rah! It must be the nostalgia for the Indiana Jones characters that swings our feelings to that movie. Nevertheless, Iron Man was fun and a perfect holiday movie. I'd say go see it but I believe everyone in the civilized world has already done so.

Dewey Update

Yesterday I had my visit with my Hematology Oncologist and reviewed all of the tests and procedures that were done last week. The happy news (see the smiling red blood cell to the left) is they could not determine any cause for my anemia. That's good because many of the causes they were investigating were serious ones, from leukemia to other cancers. It's one of those "we just don't know" right now. I have a low grade anemia that's not iron deficiency etc. My body has been thoroughly examined, poked and prodded, and that's still the results. As a side issue, I have a abnormality on my left adrenal gland that showed up on the CT scan that we're going to look at closer with an MRI. Here's a picture of what they look like. I'm including it for a little color and I didn't know what one looked like, and maybe you don't either? If it's significant it will be removed. It may or may not be related to the anemic condition, but again it's hard to tell. Just one of those things that shows up if you look hard enough. We discussed my past radiation treatments (external beam) that I had a few years ago to treat my prostate cancer--that may have damaged bone marrow in my pelvic bone (for example) and that alone could be causing my reduced red cell count. Ah, the mysteries of the body--how complex and amazing this thing is--everything working in harmony and purpose--truly a wonder that we take so much for granted. So, for now, it's on to an MRI and then probably just watchful waiting and monitoring. I also got a B-12 shot, because...well, why not. I'm over my soreness from the biopsy gouging. Feeling pretty good actually. Thanks for your thought and prayers!

I Told You So

I know the rules are that we are not suppose to say "I told you so" but in this case I think it's okay. We loved "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". We went to the first showing on the opening day (yesterday) (actually midnight was the first showing) at 9:30am, purchased a popcorn and drink and believe it or not got our very favorite seats in the theater. Dewey especially tries to stay away from finding out too much about the plot line of movies before we go--except for why it's rated a certain way so neither one of us knew anything about it. There were aspects of the 50's that we thought were great and could really relate to because we remember living through it. Even if you are young and don't remember or don't care about the 50's it was fun. I'm not sure why critics think they know so much and think the articles and reviews they write will discourage us. We decided a long time ago that we in many many cases do not agree with them. If I wanted realism all the time in movies I wouldn't go. Don't we get enough of that in our own lives. I go to the movies to be entertained and Indy entertained me. I loved Shia LaBeouf in his role and Harrison Ford was in fine shape. I would see it again today if I could and I'm counting the days till it comes out on DVD but that probably won't be until after summer or even Christmas. I don't want to spoil it for you so I'll end with this--go as soon as you can.

We are behind on out summer movies. Haven't seen "Ironman" or "Narnia" yet. The previews were great. There is a movie coming out in November called "Australia" with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman and a Brad Pitt movie about him starting life as a old man and then grows younger. Sounds intriguing. Previews for Get Smart, Hancock, Wall-E, and Kung Fu Panda. Looks like a summer filled with potentially good movies for our entertainment enjoyment.

Buddy is doing much better. He is eating great. The duck and potato special veterinary food seems to be agreeing with him. He even eats hard treats now that are hypoallergenic. So today Buddy and I get to take back cases of food to Costco and Dog Daze and even his treats that he dearly loves to Petco. It looks like we'll be buying his special formula from our Vet from now on. His poop is great. Solid and hard. Yea. He is still on medication for another week so I guess the real test comes after he finishes the meds and he still eats and poops good.

Dewey has an appointment today with his hematologist/oncologist doctor this afternoon. He wants me to go with him. We hope all the results are back and they have found the cause of his anemia.

It's back to Fall/Winter weather here. I love sweat shirts anyway.

Hip Hip Hooray

I guess not getting on the scale at home, recording everything I ate and being somewhat more disciplined helped. I lost 4 pounds when I weighed in at WW yesterday. Let see what this week is like. I am somewhat stressed because of Dewey feeling bad (his sore back) and Budding being sick but I'm not suppose to turn to food. But food is so comforting while I'm eating, it's only afterwards that I feel so blah!!!!!

Dewey had his cat scan yesterday. The only bad parts to the whole experience was drinking the two bottles of Barium Sulfate and the insertion of the IV ( it took the technician 2 times to get it right--ouch!) His results of the biopsy and cat scan should be back by Friday. That is when he has his doctor's appointment to talk about all of this.

Buddy went everywhere with us yesterday. He stayed in the car mostly, but we think he has more fun doing that that staying in his crate at home with Kitty probably tormenting him ("I'm running around free as a bird and you are stuck in there".) After dinner we went to the park and took a walk. The mother ducks were out with their little tiny babies. Buddy liked watching them. He seemed to be better than the day before but by the time he was ready for bed he threw up big time and with it came the last few medicines I had given him. He has slept all night and is still sleeping(it's early for him right now.) This morning he has a follow up with his doctor. Hopefully, his glucose level has remained normal. But, he has not pooped since we brought him home. The instruction sheet said that might happen. I'm not sure if it meant this long though. By the way, Sunday was our first experience ever with an ANIMAL Emergency Room. We are very experienced with the human ones.

It's been raining and that's good for the vegetation and it even stopped for a while so the yard could get mowed. One of the young men from church is doing yard work for the summer and he gave us a deal to good to pass up. He's mowing and trimming and that frees up our time to plant and weed and water. Hummm, now if only we had a sprinkling system.

Jeffrey called us yesterday. He is in Puerto Rico for a couple of days. A friend gave him a free airline pass. Paul is still in Hawaii till this weekend. He is spending some time in California with Spencer and Brian this weekend before returing back here. Brother bonding time. Brian, Spencer and Dewey are hard at work and Devin is staying home being a wonderful mother to Hayden. Flora, Jennifer and Carl are working hard too. The grand babies are growing. I'm staying home too writing this blog and watering the grass when it doesn't rain.

Tomorrow is the big movie day and maybe even tonight. We might go if there are earlier than midnight showings. It took us three days to recuperate from the last midnight movie we attended. No matter what the critics may say about the new Indiana Jones movie, I WILL LOVE IT.

Wild and Crazy Weekend

I mentioned in my last entry that I was taking Buddy to the doctor because he was sick. I took him. Doctor put him on a bland diet and took blood work and made an appointment to see him in a week. That was Friday afternoon. By Saturday afternoon he had blood in his stools (I'm not sure that diarrhea would be considered stools). By Saturday night we considered taking him to the ER for animals but we thought we could wait until Monday. Meanwhile, we weren't sure how come he could poop so much when he wasn't eating. He was so lethargic. He just wasn't our little arm chewing, running around, trying to catch birds and pestering Kitty Buddy. Sunday morning came and he was even worse. Hadn't eaten in 24 hours, still pooping blood, and just laying around not lifting his head and sleeping a lot. Going to the Animal Emergency Room on a weekend was never something we wanted to do but when you gotta, you gotta. We were told it was a good thing we didn't wait until Monday morning. They started treating him for a few things they thought that it could be and took more blood work. They knew something was going on because the results were back from Friday's blood tests and his white blood cell count was high. We were about to go home with medicines in hand when the doctor came out and said she wanted to keep him and put him on an IV drip. His glucose level came back at 49 which is low and his protein levels were also low. Whatever is going on with his insides had caused the drop. We left our little Buddy and went home, hopefully to pick him up at 10 that night. The IV worked it's miracle and his levels came back up and stayed that way for 4 hours. We picked him up at 10 and he seemed much better. Yesterday he did better but he did rest more than usual. It's still early but he's running around and playing with his toys and oh yes, he did find my arm again. (I know I have to do something about that) His leg didn't swell like Ella Bella's did when she had to have an IV, but she probably had it in longer than Buddy. We did have a fun incident while waiting in the ER. Buddy was laying on my lap not even able to lift his head up--I guess this is where the saying comes in"sicker than a dog"--when a Lab was taken to one of the back rooms. Buddy jumped off my lap so fast and before I could grab him or the lease he started chasing and barking like a crazy dog. It was really funny and a little unbelievable too. How can a little dog be so sick and yet think he has to protect or whatever at the same time? Buddy is now eating Gerber Baby food-beef and beef gravy. He won't touch the prescription dog food. Devin and I are both taking care of babies now. At least Hayden contains her messes in her diapers--mainly.

Now to Dewey. Thursday night went great after his biopsy. He went to work Friday and came home sore and it's gone down hill since. As long as he sits or lays down he's fine. He just can't get up or down without pain and ask him to try and pick up something that has fallen and it's almost impossible. Dewey keeps saying that the doctor said it will only be a little sore- Dewey's back didn't hear that part. Actually, this morning he says his leg is hurting too. It could be because he is overcompensating somewhere. Today he has a cat-scan and he is so excited (HAHA) because he gets to drink that awful dye stuff. Not one bottle but two bottles of it. The results from last week's biopsy aren't back to us yet. Nurses don't get paid enough.

Paul called last night from Hawaii. Sounds like the place he is staying is great. He has his own bungalow. It's really surviving in the jungle. One of his jobs was digging some holes for fence poles. He said it was pretty hard because he was digging through lava rock, but for $5 a day it's not a bad deal. He said it was much better than he had imagined it would be.

The hot weather over the weekend is now back to the cool weather. I like it but most people around here were ready for sun sun sun.

It's Tuesday. Buddy isn't going to the groomer today. We thought it would be better for him to stay home this week or until he is feeling his really normal self. I have to go to WW in an hour. I've been much better than the previous two weeks and I haven't gotten on a scale since last week per my lecturer's suggestion. Unfortunately right now I am hungry and I want Chinese.

2 days til we see Indy again.

From JoAnn's Viewpoint

I wanted to add my impressions of Dewey's biopsy yesterday. Yes, I have to admit I am brave and watched. The nurse asked me if I thought I would pass out and I said no. However, as she was leaving and another nurse took over I did mention the one time that I did pass out when I saw my mother after her hysterectomy. I even fell and hit my head on the old pipe furnance that was in the room. Maybe that's is what is wrong with me now--a head injury in my youth. The nurse leaving stopped dead in her tracks and looked back to question that. I told her it was more than 40 years ago and I
have five children that I've watched things happen to and have not passed out since. So with that said, the whole procedure took about 5 minutes. That was after Dewey was put out. And was he ever out. When they tried to wake him and have him turn over he didn't. The doctor and nurse had to turn him. He was really out of it. I wish I would have gotten a video of the doctor trying to wake Dewey up. It was hysterical. I learned a lot. For some reason I thought marrow was like sludge. It is not. There were little white specks in the blood that were flooding around. The piece of bone that was extracted was big. At least I thought it was big. In my mind I thought it would be microscopic. But the most fascinating thing was
the hole that the doctor bore into Dewey's back. It was like screwing a nail into something. Okay now don't pass out. The doctor looked like he was really burning some calories screwing that thing through skin and bone. No needle, a thing (I don't remember what it is called ) about the size of a the inside of a ball point pen. You know, the part that holds the ink. And when he screwed it back out the piece of bone came with it. Doctor said Dewey
had good hard bones. I told him it is because Dewey has always been a good milk drinker. Dewey didn't remember nor feel anything and when he woke up which was pretty quick he asked if it had been done yet. Last night went well but he is really sore today. He is icing his back at the moment. That is great medicine that enables you to not remember but you aren't totally put under--but you are out.

I would like to write more but Buddy is sick and I have an appointment with the Vet in 30 minutes. Poor Buddy we have to figure out why he gets sick at least once a week. I think the food we are feeding him is too rich for his stomach. That will make Dad sad because he loves this food. He did a lot of research about it.

Bye for now. We are going to watch last night's LOST episode later.

Anemia Schmemia

Yesterday I had a bone marrow biopsy. It seems my red blood cell count is low, and after every known blood test to man, my oncologist (scary word) Dr. Blau decided to further investigate by going to the bone marrow "factory". I had it done at Good Samaritan in Puyallup. JoAnn went with me. She even watched the whole procedure, and apparently did not faint at the site. With absolute approval from me they gave me a sedative intravenously (like with a colonoscopy, which I have way too much experience with). I'm an easy drunk on those things. After taking out some fluid and samples of the bone and innards, I woke up wondering what went on. Didn't feel a thing, although I'm a little sore now. Good hospital (Jo-T had her knees replaced there) and good Doctor and staff. Next week I have a CT Scan and hopefully that and this will give them enough info to make an intelligent diagnosis. We'll see. I applaud modern medicine and its savants.

Up, up and a WW Weigh

Okay it's Tuesday and I thought I would confess. I gained 5.8 pounds in the last two weeks. That's a Buddy (because he weighs 5.8 pounds). I didn't have to sing "I'm a little piggy" but I wanted to. My WW lecturer is very understanding and we talked about my eating problem and a couple things I needed to do this week to get back on track. It's a new week and I just need to be a little more disciplined. Actually a lot more disciplined.

Buddy is once again beautiful but since it has been raining much of the day he doesn't look like he did this morning when I picked him up from Pets R Precious. Two cocker spaniels were dropped off the same time as Buddy. I've never seen so much hair on a cocker spaniel before. When I picked up Buddy those two dogs didn't look like the same ones. They had all their hair cut off--basically shaved--and they looked so much happier and I imagine cooler too. It's amazing what a good haircut will do to and/or for man and dog. As a matter of fact for woman, too.

Since Indiana Jones comes out next week Dewey put "Raiders of the Lost Ark" on tonight to get us ready for number 4. That's a good movie. We were in Altus when the first one was released and we had to drive into Lawton to see it. We didn't know much about it before going but we were hooked after seeing it.

I made WW meatloaf for dinner. Very good. It's a start for me for the week.

Tomorrow is Activity Day for the 10 and 11 year old Primary girls. We are going to learn how to change a tire, an oil filter and check the oil. It's our learning to be self sufficient day. Dewey is being the helper tomorrow. I've never changed a tire in my life. I have a husband, four sons and AAA. Maybe it's time for me to learn too.

Not much else for today. Have a good night.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was wonderful this year. For me, it is always wonderful because I love being a mom. Dewey made me a nice Weight Watchers breakfast and Paul brought it up to me in bed. I was really excited because I heard from all five of my children before 4pm. Devin, Carl and Hayden sent me a bouquet of beautiful tulips on Friday. On Saturday I received a beautiful bouquet of pink and white roses and lilies (I think they are in the family of lilies) from Flora and Brian. I love flowers! Saturday night Paul came home with a vase of flowers he bought from a lady selling them in front of her house. He had a story about that. He started talking to her about flowers and she wanted to know how come he knew so much about them and he said that he takes pictures of them. She then invited him in and proceeded to show him pictures of his 30 year old daughter. I don't know how many albums she got out but he said he was there for three hours. She gave Paul her daughter's e-mail address and her MySpace address. All this time the father was in the other room watching TV. Paul wondered what would have happened if the daughter showed up and found her mom showing this strange man all these pictures of her. I was wondering what kind of mom would invite a strange man into her home. Maybe a lonely one. Oh well, it worked out okay and Paul came home safely with flowers for me. By the way, the daughter was pretty and I think she is a hiker or skier(something outdoorsy). Spencer, Jennifer and boys sent me beautiful pajamas (you can never go wrong with pajamas for the grandma--I wear them all the time), jelly bellies (yum) and cute pictures of Spencer and Connor. From my wonderful husband I got a spa gift card, crocks, a puzzle, a box of note cards and a big BON BON. Dewey and I ate leftovers all day because we went for Mother's Day dinner on Mother's Day Eve at Mama Stortini's. Good Italian food...family style. We had never eaten there before. I'm proud of us for eating something different for a change. Mostly we eat Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese.

At church all the sisters received See's candy bars for Mother's Day. My friend, Naomi and I snuck bites of our candy all through Sunday School. I did leave a bite to share with my sweetie pie Dewey. Dewey was really happy because he was asked to play the piano for Primary. They had the whole primary manned with priesthood holders so the sisters could attend Relief Society. Young Women too. Dewey loves playing the piano in Primary. The Relief Society room was packed.

Tomorrow is Tuesday and I'm not looking forward to getting on the scale at Weight Watchers. It's a good thing they don't make us sing "I'm a little piggy, yes I am". Sometimes I think they should because I need a little motivation not to embarrass myself any further. BUT they are too nice and just encourage us to be better in the coming week.

This weekend we finished watching the "Angel" series. So sad. It's over. 110 episodes. We enjoyed it and liked the characters.
Goodbye Angel, you gave us a lot of good nights.

Buddy and I went to the Puyallup Farmer's Market Saturday. More dogs than last Saturday. By the time Buddy got through sniffing and barking at all of them he was tired the rest of the afternoon.

Dewey says I'm turning into him. I bought my own flowers and candy this Mother's Day. That is something he does--buys all his own presents and I wrap them and he pretends to be surprised when he opens them. I guess that's what happens when you are married as long as we have been. You start acting like each other.

Paul left for Hawaii this morning. He called when he got there. He said on the ride over he sat next to a couple and their baby and in front of him was a 6 foot tall Hawaiian woman with lots of hair. He said he slept a lot. He had a window seat so he was penned in.
Well, Dewey says by Friday it's suppose to be 90 degrees. That's not good. We have no air conditioning. Don't usually need it here up in the great NW.

As I close my blog tonight the Mariners are tied with the Rangers 6-6 in the bottom of the 7th. Good Luck Mariners!

Movie Star Excitement

On Friday, May 9th, I had a sim with Thomas Guiry. I know, I had to look him up too, but he's a working actor who starred in "The Sandlot" as the character "Smalls" and more recently appeared in "Blackhawk Down", "Mystic River", and "The Black Donnellys". Go here for more: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0347509/ . He was doing some promotional work with the Military Exchange (Services) and was being given the semi-VIP treatment here at McChord, so I got to spend an hour of so inside a C-17 Sim showing him the fun parts. My impression of him is that he is very nice, short, and very young (late 20's but that's more of a reflection on my ancient perspective than actual age). He was promoting a recent movie of his called "Steel City". The Studio PR lady with him told me it was a touching, family film, and I was pretty excited to get a copy but I've since discovered that it's an "R" movie (for language). A different kind of touching is going on in it I think. I'll see if one of my braver kids will tell me about it if they ever watch it. Seriously though, Tom (he and I are on a first name basis now of course) was very friendly, said "Dude" a lot (but so do all of my young pilots--it's a generational thing) and wasn't too caught up with himself. Refreshing really. He liked being in the sim and was receptive to suggestions on how to fly and seemed to have a lot of fun with it. I got a signed DVD cover out of it and this picture. I feel special. If you look closely you'll notice he has his arm around me. We're touching but it's good touching. We're best friends now. Really.

Day After Cinco de Mayo

Yesterday was Cinco de Mayo. We decided we would have a little celebration to commemorate the day. I made enchiladas, a great Mexican rice recipe, refried beans, and we had 6 frozen tamales left from the ones we made at Christmas. We had chocolate sheet cake for dessert. Growing up in San Antonio we would have Mexican food every Wednesday in the school cafeteria and always chocolate cake. It is just a thing with us-- Mexican food and chocolate sheet cake. The three of us plus Buddy had a great time eating. I mention Buddy because while I was in the kitchen preparing the cake Buddy managed to get the tamale shucks off the table and tried to lick them clean. After discovering him two different times with one I thought I had picked them all up, then I knew he was being too quiet again---so I found him licking on one behind the curtains. What a dog.!!! No telling what is stomach is going to be like. He didn't eat anything today until just a few minutes ago. It's almost 5pm so maybe the tamales won't bother him. After all it was just grease, masa, and some meat. We put "The Three Amigos"on during and after dinner even though we sat at the table to eat instead of sitting in front of the TV. We used it for background until we actually sat in front of the TV to watch it. So that was our Cinco de Mayo celebration. It wasn't very big but Dewey, Paul and I had a good time.

This morning was Fruitland Ward Relief Society Temple Day. We had 7 sisters plus a son of one of the sisters in attendance from our Ward. It was nice. It's good to be there.

Buddy got beautified(it's Tuesday) and Dewey cut the front grass this afternoon. They both look beautiful.

And that's about it for now.

Farmers' Market

Today was the first Saturday for the farmers' market in downtown Puyallup. Last year after we got Buddy (the end of September) we went every Saturday until it closed the end of October, so this year we decided to go on the first day. Dewey, Buddy and I enjoyed the market. Lots of everything. I was looking for the garlic lady but she wasn't there today. Maybe it is too early in the season for garlic. We got four tomato plants and a bouquet of beautiful flowers. The bouquet had lilac and sweet smelling daffodils along with some others that I don't know the name. I also bought some blue trailing plants to put in the pots with my red and white flowers. Buddy had the best time because he got to sniff lots of different dogs. He loves it there and of course everyone thinks he is so cute. He still has some of the orange Citrucel on his face from our glasses the other night where he stuck his head in and tried to lick it out before we could take it away from him. Maybe that's why he didn't feel so good yesterday. That stuff is really hard to get out of a Maltese's hair. I wonder what it does to the inside of our stomach?????? There was a donut tent at the market that was spectacular. They had a mini machine that made mini donuts right there. $3.00 a dozen. I had 3 Dewey had 9 and Buddy didn't get any. They were sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. I hope they are there every Saturday. It wasn't the prettiest of days--overcast, but it didn't rain on us while we were there. It did start raining about noon so the afternoon probably wasn't great for marketing. Before leaving the downtown area we went to Dog Daze where Buddy got his treats. We then went to a hot dog cafe and had a hot dog. It was good but nothing like Provo's J-Dog. We got an A&W creme soda and low and behold Dewey was looking at the ingredients and it had caffeine. Why in the world would anyone put caffeine in a creme soda????? I've never heard of such a thing. Oh well...next they'll be putting it in Sprite. I guess water is the only way to go. Our next episode of Angel is our 100th! The Kentucky derby was exciting and very sad at the same time. We paid special attention to Eight Bells during the race because that was the horse we decided to root for. How gut-wrenching. I went to a baby shower today. Dewey is at Costco right now. Dewey went to choir practice at 8am and I cleaned the bathroom and that is how our day has been--so far.

Like Our Blog Picture?

The Title picture above is shot from a C-17 over Antarctica. One of my students took it. I wasn't there...sigh. But I like it. So that's why it's here.

There will probably be a lot of C-17 pictures on this blog. For example, the one here...
