Buddy and our fruity backyard

Buddy loves the fruit that we have growing in our backyard. When the strawberries starting to appear he helped me pick them, but he would usually go for the green ones. He still looks for them now but there is only one every once in a while. Our blueberry bushes are loaded and he likes picking them too. They are just his size. But his favorite right now are the apple trees. We have lots of little apples and the branches are hanging close to the ground and the other day I saw him standing on his hind legs reaching for one. He usually grabs them from the ground and I don't know what kind of a stomach ache he gets because they are still a little green but he sure loves apples. We have tomatoes. He is not quite as interested in them as the other fruit but on occasion he'll start to eat one. He is a little helper. If I could just get him to hold a basket instead of eating the fruit we would be in business. Have a good night.

Buddy the Moonwalker

Well, Micheal Jackson has nothing on Buddy. Buddy moonwalks better than Micheal Jackson ever did and besides he's cuter. This is what he does. He starts with pawing at the floor with all fours and then as he's doing that he moves backwards with smooth movements. It is the funniest thing a little dog could do. I wish I could catch him in the act because I would video it but by the time I could retrieve my camera he would be finished. It is a great moonwalk by a dog.

I discovered today that Buddy likes sunbathing. I looked outside and there was Paul and Buddy basking in the sun together. I hope he didn't get sunburned. I think Buddy enjoys having a friend to sunbathe with. I found out tonight that Paul didn't even know Buddy was with him because he had fallen asleep. Yep, I did have time to take a picture.

Besides being a moon walker and a sunbather Buddy has other interests but I will write more on them later.

The Dark Knight begins tonight at midnight. We don't do midnight shows anymore. It takes us a good three days to recuperate from staying up so late and then Dewey having to get up and go to work. Not sure when we will see it but we will. We are way behind on our movie going. We haven't seen many of the summer movies. But we will eventually.

THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL

Those are the perfect words to describe Ella and Buddy after their session at Pets R Precious. They had an enjoyable morning at their very own "SPA". They were so excited to be fussed over and pampered. Smelling clean and getting all the knots out and having their back ends excised. What more could a little Maltese want? Buddy wishes Ella could go with him more often. It's nice to have a friend to have fun with. They even got to share the same crate while there. They were so good together all the days she was here. Once they left Buddy got depressed. It's four days later and he's doing better. He's back to chewing on my arm again. Just to let you know--not once did he do that while Ella was here. They were both too busy chewing and wrestling with each other for him to pay attention to me. Which makes me think that maybe he needs a permanent playmate. We keep asking Devin and Carl to let Ella stay for 6 months or so but they always say no. I understand why but I still keep asking. Ella is the best bed sleeper I have ever seen. She just curls up under the covers and is out like a light. She got to sleep with us twice. The other nights she wanted to be with mom and dad. Buddy got to sleep in his crate. Buddy always gets to sleep in his crate at night. But don't feel bad he does sleep on the bed during the day while I am reading or taking a nap or doing quite things. Buddy misses you Ella!

Hayden Lily's First Visit

Hayden Lily (and her parents, Devin and Carl) had her first visit to our house. We were so excited to have her here. And boy did we have fun. She met Buddy and Kitty for the first time. I'm not so sure what she thought about Kitty but she was really confused about "The Two Ellas". She would look at Ella and then at Buddy and back and forth. Two little white fluffy hair ball--what's going on? At one point Ella was in her face and Hayden grabbed Ella's tongue and would have held on if I had not intervened. That was funny. I bet Ella doesn't get that close anymore. It was very cute. And Kitty--I'm not sure what she thought about "The Two Buddys", but we were very happy that the three of them got along. At one time Ella, Kitty and Buddy were all on the bed together sleeping.

Uncle Paul even got to babysit for a little while when I went up to take a shower and get ready. Paul thinks she is pretty special--all you boys out there be careful the Owens' uncles will get you if you are not good to their niece.

Hayden was absolutely the perfect little girl while she was here. She slept through the 4th of July fireworks. That was an amazing thing in itself. For those of you who have never experienced the 4th in our neighborhood you must know that it sounds like a war zone. Very loud--very, very loud. It wasn't for a few hours either. The noise and fireworks started early in the day and continued through midnight-maybe longer, but by then I was asleep and was oblivious to all the noise.

On the 4th Dewey, Paul, Devin and Carl went to the Seattle Mariners day game at 1pm. I got to babysit all by myself. Hayden and I had a good time bonding. We played, looked at the garden and backyard, ate(thank you Devin for the bottle), and slept. It was a perfect afternoon for this grandma.

On Saturday morning the 5th we all went down to the Farmers' market in the park.
The dogs got to go too. (Kitty had to stay home but she was probably happy to have the house to herself.) I love going to the market with Dewey and Buddy so to have Hayden, Devin, Carl, Paul and Ella with me too was wonderful. We found a cute big flower bow for Hayden and of course she is adorable wearing it but then she is adorable not wearing a big flower bow too.

We went to church Sunday and she was so good. I was so happy to show off my granddaughter to all my friends. They know Devin personally so it made it more special that Devin got to show her off too.

I had fun with bath time. Devin let me do the honors. Hayden loves bath time. It has been a long time since I bathed a 5 month old.

Grandpa Dewey had his 63rd birthday during their visit. Dewey, Carl and Devin went to see WALL-E in the morning on his birthday. I got to babysit. Yea. That night we went to Mama Stortini's Restaurant. When we got home Dewey opened presents and we had German Chocolate Cake (from scratch, Dewey's request). Hayden wouldn't go to sleep until the party was over. Uh oh--do we have a party girl in the making?

Devin and I went to a spa and relaxed with a 90 minute relaxation massage. Heavenly. There's never enough time. We didn't even get to the Mall to go shopping. I think Devin and I will have a fun time shopping for Hayden when we get around to it.

I ate entirely too much. We had Thai food--DELICIOUS. Dewey made his famous ribs-DELICIOUS. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans etc. on the 4th--DELICIOUS. And lots of other goodies-- chicken salad, waffles, pancakes, bacon, eggs, toaster strudels, chocolate chip cookies and so on. DELICIOUS.

Devin and Carl's friends, Amy L and Sam came over on Sunday afternoon and had dinner with us and visited with Devin and Carl. They had a good visit. They brought a DELICIOUS red, while and blue dessert. Thank you.

Devin and Carl enjoyed themselves in the hot tub. Carl and Dewey saw THE INCREDIBLE HULK. The boys played video games. I know I've probably missed some things but I think I got the highlights. We miss them and wish they lived closer--maybe in a couple of years--that's the plan.

Hayden Lily is sweet, adorable and I couldn't ask for a more beautiful granddaughter. We are thankful for her and to her wonderful parents. Devin is a terrific mom and Carl a very caring father. Keep up the good work.

I mentioned in an earlier blog--how blessed we are to have been able to have all three of our grandchildren and their parents be with us in less than a month's time. What a great summer this has been for us. We love you! Hurry back!
